The project is being implemented as part of the President of Ukraine's Active Parks programme and is being carried out by the Kyiv Regional Military Administration and the Borodianka Village Council in conjunction with The Ministry for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine. The project was developed and implemented by the teams of Big City Lab, Urban Reform and the Street Culture platform.
The Active Park in Borodianka is a modern space that combines sports, recreation, and socialising. It is a place that will unite the community and become a centre of attraction not only for children and young people, but for everyone who needs it.

On 1 April 2025, on the anniversary of Borodianka's liberation from Russian troops, a temporary experimental Active Park was opened in the village. It was created by the Big City Lab team, together with Urban Reform and Street Culture, with the help of patronage funds.
This format was chosen to understand what activities Borodianka residents are most interested in and what sports should be considered when implementing a permanent solution.
During the six months of the temporary park's existence, the teams observed how people used the space and collected feedback. For example, parents who came here with their children asked for more recreation areas, especially in the shade. People also shared that they lacked public toilets in the park and equipped access to the surrounding lakes.
At the same time, the community requested that the space be expanded.
After analysing the user experience, the teams proposed a permanent solution.
The concept was developed by the teams of the urban bureau Big City Lab, Urban Reform, and the street culture platform Street Culture. The Active Park in Borodyanka is being designed by the comprehensive design workshop OKSI-K.
The Active park will be located near the main square of the city, next to Central Street, through which most public transport routes pass. The entire village is within a 30-minute bike ride.
In addition, Borodianka has well-developed transport links with neighbouring settlements. Therefore, potential visitors to the park include residents of nearby towns and villages.
The park will be located in a green area and will have access to two lakes.

The Active Park will feature:
The Аctive park will cover the entire area around two lakes. There will be places to relax, new walking routes and access to the water.
The park will be implemented in two stages. The first stage will include all sports locations, a restroom, a place for quiet games and a central square. The second stage will include an amphitheatre, as well as part of the piers and walking routes.

Today, the comprehensive reconstruction of the Kyiv region continues: not only critical infrastructure and housing stock are being restored, but also spaces that provide people with a quality life.
One of the key elements of this process is public locations for children, teenagers and young people. For example, sports facilities where people can spend time from morning to evening: they create space for development and sports, help maintain mental health and become a meeting place. In addition, such places help to actively involve veterans and new residents in the community.
The location is planned to open in 2026.
